UK house prices gain for second month
September 17, 2009
UK house prices climbed for a second month in August in the latest sign that low interest rates and the decline of the last two years are attracting buyers.
The average house price rose 0.8pc to an average of £160,973 after gaining 1.2pc in July, the latest survey from Halifax showed on Thursday. That leaves prices down 7.6pc compared with 12 months ago.

The demand for housing has increased since the start of the year due to better affordability and low interest rates. Moreover, low levels of property available for sale, has further boosted house prices over the last few months.
In the light of these recent improvements, UK Housing has put together expert advice and guidance to help with private letting and how to sell your house privately.
